Swimming Groups

Emerald Coast Swimming has various swimming groups in its program.  Below are some general guidelines for each group.  All athletes are grouped by the coach.  Subsequently, all advancements by swimmers is at the discretion of the coach.

Senior / Pre-Senior Group

Swimmers in this group are either in middle school or high school. The goals of this group are to continue to refine stroke technique, and increase training volume.   Swimmers in this group focus on qualifying for SES championship, state championship and other high level competitions.  Swimmers in this group may commit to a minimum of 20+ hours per week of weight training and swim work-outs during peak training periods in the season. An average work-out is 6,000 - 6,500+ yards. There is a minimum of 1 classroom seminar a month which all athletes are encouraged to attend.  In the Fall of 2007, ECS began to supplement their training program with a number of other physical disciplines.  Yoga, Core Synergistics, Plyometrics and Kenpo training (for core rotation and power) are now integral parts of the swim program. The swimmers in the Pre-Senior and Senior  groups are expected to attend all practices and meets.
